Rio de Janeiro: Duda Pamplona’s first win in Stock Car career
The 11th Nextel Cup Stock Car round in Rio de Janeiro was filled with excitement for all podium winners as well as for the 2 time champion Cacá Bueno as Duda Pamplona won the first Stock Car race in his career. The Officer Pamplona’s Motorsport (Mitsubishi) driver started in second behind pole position Ricardo Sperafico of Vivanz 307 Racing (Peugeot) and put pressure on him throughout.
Sperafico set a fast pace to the race until Duda pushed through at a low speed curve and took the lead. The podium was completed by Ricardo Sperafico in second place and David Muffato of RC3 Bassani (Peugeot) in third.
According to new regulations, the number of teams competing in the 2008 season will be reduced to 16, so Muffato’s podium means that the RC3 Bassani team is closer to qualifying for next year.
Overall, the race in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday (18/11) was cause for great celebration!
