Stock Car Parade in Porto Alegre: it’s a hit!
The Stock Car parade that took place this Thursday morning was a total hit amongst the passers-by and Nextel Cup fans. The rendez-vous point was at the Usina do GasĂ´metro, a landmark in the city in the south of Brazil. Drivers Cacá Bueno, Ricardo MaurĂcio and Antonio Pizzonia participated.
As the Stock Cars have to run at a minimum speed or else the engine overheats, the local motorcycle traffic squad did a wonderful job by clearing the roads and allowing the Stock cars to drive fast, making hearts race all over the city.
Nextel Cup Championship leader Cacá Bueno drove in the Eurofarma Mitsubishi car, Ricardo MaurĂcio in the Medley Chevrolet and ex-F1 driver Antonio Pizzonia in the Volkswagen. The parade lasted around 20 minutes, passing through the main streets and highways, and whilst the drivers accelerated at full speed, alternating the lead in exciting moves, vehicles and people all stopped to watch the show. Ricardo MaurĂcio even had to perform acrobatics with his car in order to make a sharp turn on the way back to the rendez-vous!
Cacá Bueno also performed for the crowd upon their return to the Usina. A large group of school children were waiting, and managed to see Cacá perform ‘zerinhos’ or zeros on the road at a high speed. After that, the driver signed autographs and took pictures with a huge group of fans.
All in all, the Stock Car Parade managed to once again attract spectators and draw them to the race nearby, on this coming Sunday (28/10). The race will take place at Autodromo TarumĂŁ, located around 30 minuts from Porto Alegre.
