Nextel Cup drivers at traditional gaúcho centre
On the night before the first Open Training sessions at Autodromo Taruma, Nextel Cup drivers spent the afternoon at a centre for gaúcho traditions, which is the culture strongly represented in the southern states in Brazil.
At the barbecue restaurant called Galpão Crioulo, the drivers learned regional dances and even tried their hands at knife fighting. Popó Bueno (São Luiz/ Hot Car - Chevrolet), Ruben Fontes (Neo QuÃmica - Neosoro/ JF Racing - Peugeot), Juliano Moro (Nascar - Mitsubishi), Ricardo Sperafico (Vivanz 307 Racing - Peugeot), Thiago Marques (Cimed Racing - Volkswagen), Hybernon Cysne (PowerTech - Chevrolet) and Playoff drivers Rodrigo Sperafico (Genéricos Biosintética Stock Car - Volkswagen) and Daniel Serra (Red Bull Racing - Volkswagen) all joined in.
A group of professional dancers who perform at Galpão Crioulo taught the Nextel Cup drivers how to dance the chula (a traditional dance for men) and then with the ladies, who were dressed in costumes. The Stock Show Car was placed in the restaurant for the event, as was the Stock Car photo exhibition, which attracted and invited people to get to know a little bit more about the country’s biggest auto racing category.
