Nextel Cup race review in 2006: Tarumã
The 9th Stock Car round of the 2006 season in Tarumã was won by then category champion Giuliano Losacco. The Texaco Vogel Motorsport driver defended the Medley/ A. Mattheis (Chevrolet) team. He started in pole position and dominated the circuit from end to end, threatened only by Ingo Hoffmann’s drive-by for a few laps.
Just metres behind, Felipe Maluhy was being attacked by Cacá Bueno. The duel lasted several laps until gear problems caught Bueno off guard. Valdeno Brito closed in on Cacá Bueno, who could do nothing but allow his to pass.
After overtaking Cacá, Valdeno went after Maluhy, and it all went downhill from there, with as series of bumps and accidents. Ingo tried to maintain the second place, but due to spent tyres was passed by Valdeno and Muffato. Valdeno not only overtook Ingo, but also went after Losacco, with little success. The race finished with Giuliano Losacco in first, Valdeno Brito in second and David Muffato in third.
Of these drivers on the podium, only Valdeno Brito made it to the Playoffs, who is currently in 9th overall. Both Losacco and Muffato were well away from any chance of entering the Super Finals throughout the season.
Tickets for the 2007 race in Tarumã are already for sale. The race will take place on the 28th of October.
