Pop贸 Bueno shares podium with brother Cac谩
For the first time in the 2007 season and after 3 years of waiting, Pop贸 Bueno of S茫o Luiz/ Hot Car (Chevrolet) finally climbed the podium with a solid third place. The driver started in fourth place but soon jumped to third since pole position Ricardo Sperafico, Vivanz 307 Racing (Peugeot), left the grid due to engine problems.
A few laps later, race leader Ricardo Maur铆cio of Medley/ A. Mattheis (Chevrolet) missed the track and presented Cac谩 Bueno, Eurofarma RC (Mitsubishi), with the leadership. Pop贸 stayed in second until he decided to give way for Playoff driver Thiago Camilo of Texaco Vogel Motorsport (Chevrolet) who was coming up fast behind him. 鈥淲ith Sperafico’s and Maur铆cio’s exit I found myself in second place. Thiago was very fast, and as I am not in the Playoffs and this was my chance to be on the podium, I didn’t stand in his way”, Pop贸 affirmed.
Cac谩 Bueno won the race, Thiago Camilo came in second and Pop贸 closed the podium in third. For the driver, sharing a podium with his brother was very special. 鈥淏eing side by side with Cac谩 makes this moment even better. If I am near him, I am always ahead!鈥 he concluded.
