Cacá Bueno achieves third victory in the 2007 Nextel Cup season

With just a little bit of luck, Cacá Bueno achieved his third victory in the 2007 Stock Car Nextel Cup season. This is his most important win for the Eurofarma RC team (Mitsubishi), as it was the first Playoff round. With this result, Cacá continues to secure the championship lead, ahead of the pack with 252 points.

Second on the podium Thiago Camilo of Texaco Vogel Motorsport (Chevrolet) is now vice-leader in the overall standings, with 237 points. PopĂł Bueno of SĂŁo Luiz/ Hot Car came in third place in the race, almost overtaking Playoff driver Camilo. The Texaco driver was facing problems and losing many seconds due to a fuel tank problem. This was PopĂł’s first climb to the podium in the season.

Yesterday’s pole position Ricardo Sperafico, Vivanz 307 Racing (Peugeot) started in last place due to technical problems, only joining in the race at the last minute. Ricardo MaurĂcio of Medley/ A. Mattheis (Chevrolet) assumed the first position and was dealing well with Cacá’s pressure until the safety car’s entrance cooled down his tyres and he lost his ground on some dirt that was spread across the track. Gear box troubles then ensued and MaurĂcio was forced to abandon the race. He is now in third overall.

This was an unusual race as there were 5 Playoff drivers occupying the 8 top spots in the race. After winning superbly in BrasĂlia, Hoover Orsi of Red Bull Racing (Volkswagen) surprised everyone by starting at the bottom of the pack in the 36th position. He finished in 18th and declared that after his crash yesterday, the car underperformed in this race.

In fourth place overall and now tied to Felipe Maluhy of Terra Racing, Ingo Hoffmann in AMG Motorsport did very well, starting in 21st and finishing in 11th. Neo QuĂmica - Neosoro/ JF Racing driver Valdeno Brito also had car trouble and finished in 17th.
