Stock Car Light: André Bragantini confirms successful moment in career

André Bragantini Jr., Nova/ RR Competições, won one more Stock Car Light round after dominating all of the free practices and taking the pole position on Friday. With this result, Bragantini has come much closer to the current championship leader, Norberto Gresse, AMG Motorsport, who climbed to the third position on the podium in this race. Luis Carreira Junior, Carreira Racing, came in second, a remarkable feat for the driver who has just restarted his career in the category in Curitiba. Carreira had previously won the championship title in 2003.

The drivers in the starting grid maintained their positions throughout, so the first thrill of the race came in the second lap, when Tiago Gonçalves’ car had problems and his door flew off.

Eduardo Santos, Pauta Racing, spinned and crashed into Luis Carreira, who was able to hold his position with a broken bumper. Starting in third, Gresse pressured and overtook Leonardo Burti, Hot Car Competições, in the fourth lap. In lap 6, Burti spinned due to problems with the gear box, until he decided to abandon when he spinned again with no clut

Lucas Molo, Scuderia Tekprom, and Cristiano Federico, ATW Racing Team, were involved in an accident which led the Safety Car to interrupt the race. In this restart, Carreira and Gresse had an exciting battle for positions where Carreira ended up in front, taking the higher place on the podium.

In Lap 24, the Safety Car was forced to go on track again due to the accident involving Cláudio Pianowsky, NEP Competições, Rodrigo Stefanini, Carreira Racing, and Gustavo Sondermann, FTS Competições.

André Bragantini’s win in Curitiba confirms a very good phase in his career, and after making pole position on the day before the race, the driver commented; “We’re celebrating our pole position with our minds set on the race tomorrow. Gresse is close behind in third, and I have to stay in front. We’re racing to win”. That, he certainly did.
